My Storyknife Writers Retreat Experience in Alaska
A memorable journey of creativity, connection, and inspiration in Alaska’s breathtaking wilderness.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Cook Inlet and the Aleutian Mountain Range in Homer, Alaska, Storyknife Writers Retreat offers women writers the invaluable gifts of time, space, and creative community. Founded in 2014 by author Dana Stabenow, this literary nonprofit welcomes writers from Alaska, across the United States, and around the world, providing a peaceful environment where they can explore their craft without distraction and lift one another’s voices.
I was honoured to participate in this inspiring retreat alongside Ching-In Chen, Yalonda JD Green, Maureen Bhutong Boyd, Anna Smist, Sasha Tandlich, and Erin Hollowell. Together, we shared excerpts from our work, exchanged ideas, and celebrated the diverse experiences and perspectives that shape our writing. Surrounded by Alaska’s extraordinary natural beauty, Storyknife offered not only the space to write, but also the opportunity to connect with a remarkable community of women writers.
